Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) -- For football fans back home, with two big games on TV, it's a long day of celebrating, that can cause trouble on the road.

One day. Two big games. The NDSU Bison in a national championship...

Krause: "Being a student at NDSU, I had to support!"

And Vikings versus Packers in a Super Bowl playoff.

Haug: "Used to live in Green Bay, so I'm going to stay here to watch the Green Bay Packers hopefully beat the Vikings!"

Many are knocking back a few as part of the celebration, but a long day of drinking can cause trouble on the roads.

Bailey Krause and a group of friends planned around that fact.

Krause: "I'm not trying to get in trouble, so that's number one!"

They figured it would be best to stay within walking distance of her apartment.

Krause: "We didn't want to drive, personally, obviously. And it would have taken a little longer to get back down to my apartment."

And Bison and Packers fan Jon Haug says it's always important to have a back-up plan.

Haug: "You always hear about DUIs, people getting hurt in car crashes. You have to be smart about going out and having fun."

As for police, they say they've been doing patrols all day, keeping in mind that people are out celebrating, and hoping everyone heeds the warnings to plan ahead.

Police say they'll keep an eye on things as the night goes on.
