Frisco, TX (WDAY TV) -- If you caught our newscast last night we're happy to report, the "Frisco Cruiser" made it to Frisco, Texas.
A group of 9 Bison fanatics decided to take their 20 year old school
bus on the 1,000 mile trip from Fargo to Texas.
We were there as they left, and caught them as they arrived.
Here it is in Sunny Frisco, Texas, the bison cruiser and 9 people in it have arrived.
Chuck: "We made it there were a few people out there who maybe thought we
wouldn't make it but here we are."
And here they were, this was the crew being interviewed yesterday
afternoon in Fargo, it'd take them nearly 23 hours to get here. The bus now showing signs of life on the road.
Jason: "It's exhausting being in a vehicle that long, even with breaks it
seemed like a week."
Did you hear that screaming and honking at the end of his soundbite? Yep that's Texas transforming into Bison country. These guys are one of hundreds who showed up Thursday.
Earlier we found NDSU alum Virginia Howe, the unofficial first
bison fan in Frisco. She beat the charter planes and busses for that title.
She says she's thrilled to be here in January for a 2nd straight year.
Howe: "I know when i stepped off the plane one of the ladies said you're
going to need that coat i was like nope it's a heat wave here compared
to what we had back at home."
The guys from the Frisco cruiser can second that, they dealt with icy
roads through South Dakota. They say that added a little time to the trip,
that and the fact the bus has a top speed of 68 miles per hour.
"We're happy to be here, glad we made it the Frisco cruiser moniker
lived up to its name, we might have to name it the Fargo cruiser to
ensure we get back home."
The thing all of the Bison fans are talking about is the party at the
baseball diamond and we will have that story coming up Friday night at
10.
The Frisco Cruiser got about 6-8 miles per gallon on the trip.
The guys plan on being at the tailgate lot 5:30 Saturday morning.
