Frisco, TX (WDAY TV) -- It was news that spread panic to Bison fans late Monday night. When it leaked out that Bison linebacker Grant Olson had been in the hospital.

Olson talked for the first time today, and our Own Dom Izzo has that conversation from Frisco.

Today team photo day for the Bison and one of the key members of that photo is middle linebacker Grant Olson. Who is here after a surprise visit to the hospital on Monday what's been a very scary and eventful last 48 hours.

Grant Olson: "I actually just went back into the hospital to get a cat scan. Didn't think there was anything seriously wrong it was just kind of a check up thing. Got that done and I was in the lobby and the guy that did the cat scan came back out and just said 'I don't know if anybody has told you but we just call the surgeon and go to the emergency room right now.' I head down to the ER and met with the surgeon and said you have a swollen appendix and we might need to take it out. Because I was already getting better from the previous day when I was in the walk in clinic and they gave me some antibiotics I was already getting better. They said ok, we are not gonna have the surgery, we are just gonna see if this can get better on it's own. They thought it was appendicitis, but I know one of the doctors said it was a combination of things. I still have a bad groin from the Georgia Southern game, they thought I had the flu. So the whole combination didn't feel very good for a couple days."

Where you scared at all that you wouldn't be able to play?

Olson: "Yeah, a little bit, but I'm very thankful. There were a lot of prayers being sent out. I said a lot myself. Just very thankful to be on the plane, down here and feeling better."

There's a handful of players returning to Frisco but making their championship game debut Saturday, like South alum Andrew Okland.

It definitely showed me, like, a lot of the stuff that Warren Holloway would do, his work ethic, how hard he worked, taught me and the others guys to come here, be focused and have a business type plan.

There's one more media obligation for the Bison. That's tonight's annual bowling tournament that'll take place across the street from here. Tonight, we'll hear from Sam Houston State, and the motivation they used to get back to the championship game.

A reminder, our 1-hour special on the 2012 Bison season, Fargo To Frisco

airs tomorrow night at 9 right here on WDAY.
