FARGO – Authorities here are investigating several reports of counterfeit money being passed in the metro area, Deputy Police Chief Pat Claus said.
There were at least seven reports of fake bills being passed on Wednesday, including four reports in Fargo, two in Moorhead and one in West Fargo, according to the police dispatch log.
One of the calls involved a $20 counterfeit bill received by a blackjack dealer in downtown Fargo, police said.
The Red River Valley SWAT Team executed a search warrant at about 9:30 a.m. today in the 1400 block of First Avenue North, but Claus wouldn’t say whether it was related to the counterfeit money investigation.
Moorhead police confirmed they also assigned an investigator to the case and were working with federal authorities.
Additional information is expected to be released this afternoon.
