Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) - Bison fans and players have begun their invasion of Frisco, Texas. WDAY 6 Sports Director Dom Izzo has more from the site of the FCS National championship game.
The Bison truck and trailer arrived earlier today and in about 48 hours a sea of green and yellow will descend upon here as the Bison faithful have returned to North Texas to try and cheer their team on to a second straight national championship. For the Bison coaches and players, today is a bit of a unique day, arriving at the hotel to a warm greeting, something they're getting used to over the last two seasons.
Brock Jensen, Playing in Second National Title Game: “Hopefully, becoming a habit. It feels good to finally be here. We had a nice greeting again. We're just ready for the festivities and all the fun things ahead of us.”
Gene Taylor, NDSU Athletic Director: “Today, you just get here and you have to get things moving and get in your room. Once they get in the routine of things and get into the press conferences I think then it will begin to feel real. I think today is just another practice day in Frisco. Tomorrow, once they get into the groove of the NCAA folks being around it will be much more, okay, this is getting serious.”
There is some serious news concerning Bison starting linebacker Grant Olson, who two nights ago was in the hospital. He's made the trip to Frisco and Craig Bohl remains optimistic he'll play on Saturday.
Craig Bohl, NDSU Head Coach: “He says he's feeling better. So certainly we're going to be monitoring his progress the whole time and from what I understand things are projected to improve each day.”
Coming up we'll hear from two of the Bison mainstays on defense, each of them that were huge in last year's championship game and they'll be on the sidelines coming this Saturday.
The one-hour special Fargo To Frisco, a look back at the 2012 season, airs Friday night at 9 o'clock.
