(WDAY TV) -- Just four days away from a 2nd consecutive FCS championship game, Craig Bohl made a strong statement about his future aspirations and overall satisfaction in being the head coach of the Bison football team.

Today, Bohl and NDSU agreed to an 8 year contract extension that runs through 2021.

The extension calls for Bohl's annual base salary of 206-thousand dollars to be increased by at least 5 percent per year, with possible incentives reaching another hundred thousand. If he should leave NDSU for the FBS ranks, his buyout could be as much as four hundred thousand dollars. The extention means Bohl likely won't leave NDSU for anything less than a big time job, because, as he reminded us today, FBS doesn't equal happiness.

Coach Craig Bohl says, "I lived that for 18 years and a lot of times, a lot of zeroes and commas behind a name doesn't equal satisfaction in your job. There's a lot more than just the wins and losses. I have a great boss, excellent president and really good program moving in the right direction."

Gene Taylor, NDSU Athletic Director, says, "I think this says hey we want you here in the long haul, we want him, he wants us to keep him here and that's what we've done."
