Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) -- Imagine ringing in 2013 with a new baby!

This morning, Lyla Wegscheid was the very first baby to be born in the metro area. She arrived at four-37 this morning, weighing seven pounds and two ounces.

She is 20 and a half inches long. But her parents weren't expecting her so soon.

Both Tim and Amelia were celebrating with friends, when her water broke...After finding a sober ride, which wasn't an easy task, Lyla was born.

She's a week early, but mom says she's glad to have her baby girl and a great story to tell.
