Debt is being paid off early for Target Field

(WDAY TV) -- A steady flow of twins fans at Target field is helping Hennepin County save a lot of money.

As part of its finance plan, the county took advantage of low interest rates and a stable revenue stream to speed up payments on the stadium. It's saving nearly 54 million dollars in interest expenses.

The initial plan had the ballpark payed for by 20-37. Now, it could finish 5 to 10 years earlier. The 555 million dollar ballpark opened two years ago.
