Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) -- As you're getting ready for your New Years Eve celebrations, police want to remind you, don't forget a sober ride.

Fargo Police will be out in full force, with extra DUI patrols to keep the roads safe. Police say the combination of drunk drivers and icy roads makes New Year's Eve one of the most dangerous nights on the road.

Officers say in previous years, they've lucked out -- keeping incidents in check.

Sgt. Jason Nelson with the Fargo Police Department says, "Everyone thinks that it gets crazy over New Years. It's typically pretty low key. I think part of that is because we have a strong presence out there. People are aware that there's more officers out there and they take the precautions to get home safely."

Last New Years, 13 people were brought to the Cass County jail on suspicion of DUI.
