(WDAY TV) -- President Obama remains "optimistic" that an agreement can be reached in Congress before a year-end deadline to avoid tax increases and spending cuts.

Senators Reid and McConnell are working on a compromise right now and the president wants a bill passed.

President Obama says, "this is déjà vu all over again. American wonders why it is in this town you cant' get stuff done in an organized timetable. The American people are not going to have any patience for a politically self inflicted wound to our economy."
