Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) -- Winter is well underway, and so are the dark and dreary days that come along with it.

So, seasonal depression is bound to set in, but not only in humans. Pets have a good chance of developing the disorder too. And now, there might just be a cure.

Just like humans, a sunlamp, one made just for pets is said to help "seasonal affective disorder" in dogs. But Prairie Winds Veterinarian says don't go buy one just yet.

Alicia Wisnewski, veterinarian, says, "we do see problems where pets need more sunlight to help their serotonin levels in the brain so it would be something to work out individually with your veterinarian and your pet if it's something that you think that individual animal needs."

There are alternatives. Making sure your dog gets out for a walk everyday, can help too.
