FARGO – One woman was taken to the hospital after a bedroom fire here Friday morning.

Assistant Fire Chief Larry Schuh said the elderly woman was not believed to be seriously injured. She was likely taken to the hospital as a precaution, he said.

Crews were called to an apartment at 801 6th Ave. N., at 11:16 a.m., according to dispatch.

The fire appeared to have started on the woman’s mattress in a garden-floor apartment, Schuh said. The woman was able to get outside with the assistance from a third-floor resident, he said.

Residents of the roughly 24-unit building were asked to shelter in place, and were not evacuated, Schuh said.

Damage was confined to one room of the woman’s home.

The woman’s name has not yet been released.

The cause of the fire was not yet determined. A fire investigator is on scene.
