Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) - After a day filled with unwrapping presents, many shoppers are out looking for after Christmas deals and returning those unwanted gifts.

But did you ever wonder how to take something back without offending the person who bought it?

Many people are out at West Acres not only looking for the best post-holiday sales, but bringing back gifts that maybe just didn't fit in size or in style.

It's the common family Christmas scene. Unwrapping gifts; some good, and others bad, but the look on a person's face says it all, making the day after Christmas one of the busiest for unwanted returns.

Nicole Slavik, St. Paul: “We are returning some things and looking for some sales.”

And it seems most shoppers aren't too worried about hurting their gift giver's feelings.

Paul Hagen, Fargo: “I would just go bring it back, you know. I would say hey man it's not for me.”

Kiana Schauer, Indiana: "I'd say you don't really need to say anything. Just return it.”

But often times if it comes from someone you care about, that may be tricky, so they've got a few tips.

Slavik: "Well I think just saying that you really like the item but you know, we need a different size and so we're going to go and get the same exact item, just something that actually fits a little bit better.”

Schauer: "If they do happen to be with you, it didn't fit right or it wasn't...it just didn't fit right."

Or sometimes, the fit is the best part of all.

Other shoppers are gathering just for the sales, many stores offering up to 80% off.
