Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) -- Most are gathering this evening, sitting down to a warm meal with their family, but here, at the Salvation Army, dozens took the time away from their families to help others.

For almost 20 years Community Presbyterian Church of West Fargo has been volunteering their time to serve a Christmas Eve meal. Today, hundreds were able to eat a holiday dinner because of volunteers like Carolyn Meester.

Meester says, "it's giving back to ya know, those who are less fortunate than we are. It just makes you feel good after you do it. It's a special time."

In addition to a free meal, many people were offered a new pair of shoes as well.
