Mandan, ND (WDAY TV) -- It's almost impossible to prepare for an unthinkable act of horror like the Sandy Hook Elementary shooting, but a Mandan business travels to schools to provide real-life safety training.

Wenck Associates specializes in emergency preparedness. It's recently traveled to Bottineau to provide teacher education and a realistic shooting scenario.

There's a shooter with a starter pistol firing off blanks, while teachers and administrators respond throughout the building. Even local law enforcement is involved.

Derek Hanson, Wenck Associates Manager, says, "certainly if we lock our doors, and screened our people a little more carefully, that in itself would make a huge difference."

Wenck Associates is one of the few businesses in the country that do this training
