A lockdown ended in dramatic fashion in New Town, ND

New Town, ND (WDAY TV) -- A standoff that had the school in New Town, North Dakota on lockdown, has ended in dramatic fashion.

New Town, ND (WDAY TV) -- A standoff that had the school in New Town, North Dakota on lockdown, has ended in dramatic fashion.

Authorities demolished the walls of a tribal owned home to nab 32 year old Michael Smith. The FBI took him into custody to end the 33 hour standoff. Smith broke into the home early Wednesday morning at 1:00, and temporarily held the family hostage.

He was believed to be heavily armed.

Smith is being held by the FBI on warrants for his arrest on drug charges in Colorado.
