Wahpeton man pleads guilty to trapping a bald eagle

Wahpeton, ND (WDAY TV) -- A Wahpeton man has pleaded guilty to illegally trapping a bald eagle.
Jay Schuler has been ordered to pay 75-hundred dollars in fines and community service payments. According to federal prosecutors, Schuler set a trap that caught a bald eagle, and placed a turkey carcass next to it.
The bald eagle was later freed and rehabilitated, and despite permanent damage to a talon, it's been released to the wild.
