Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) - There are dozens of theories and predictions out there as we approach what some say is the "end of the world." December 21st: this Friday.

Does this mean skip the Christmas Shopping? Talk back to your boss? Don't be so sure.

It's a tough sell this year. Calendars planning for 2013 when everything is a little unsure. The world ends Friday, you know.

“I hope the world is not ending, the Vikes play on Sunday and I have to be there to watch them.”

We raised the issue with Concordia student Kevin Luke, who is planning to buy a calendar, but really, why bother, with the world ending in two days. Who needs 2013.

Kevin Luke, Concordia Student “I want to be ready, I don't want that awkward moment, when you are just like I forgot to buy your present because I thought the world was going to end.”

Stacy and Michael Leko have reason to celebrate. Not only are they picking out a cat calendar but it's Michael's 30th birthday.

Stacy Leko: “It could be his last.”

And so cuddly kitties and wild dogs, and cute babies, who needs them. And when it comes to planning calendars for 2013, that is so yesterday.

Mark Rasmussen of GoCalendars has heard all the "end of the world talk"

Mark Rasmussen, GoCalendars: “Crazy, funny, is the key word.”

He's hoping there are optimists out there who, with just two days left, will have no qualms of picking out a 2013 calendar.

“A good time of year, this end of the world thing, I don't buy it. I am just looking forward to a good calendar. I am a Johnny Cash fan.”

Leko: “I just want to graduate college and I cannot graduate if the world is going to end, so if I can do that I can be happy.”

Mark that on your calendar.

And not to worry, some Archeologists say they actually have evidence the Mayan calendar stretches well beyond 2013.
