UPDATE: Police hoping clear surveillance footage leads to robbery arrest

Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) - Police are hoping you can help identify a suspect in an armed robbery this afternoon.

Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) - Police are hoping you can help identify a suspect in an armed robbery this afternoon.

It happened at a Fargo Gate City Bank locatin on South University.

Police are combing through surveillance video, picking out the best shots of the robber. It's one of the few times recently we've seen cameras catch such a clear picture of someone's face.

Joel Vettel, Fargo Police: "Without having his face covered, hopefully this will allow someone from the public to know who the individual is."

This is the man police are hoping you can identify: In his 50s, grey hair, and beard, and about 190 to 200 pounds, standing about 5 and a half feet. He's seen here in distinguishable clothing -- a camo jacket, jeans, and light blue cap.

About 4 this afternoon, the man walked into Gate City Bank, said he had a pistol and demanded money, which tellers immediately gave to him.

Then, the man ran - all of this happening in broad daylight.

Vettel: "With times the banks are open, it increases the chances of it being robbed in the daytime hours than the evening."

K-9 units set up a perimeter and tracked the man's trail to the North.

What's next for police is following up on leads, and checking other stores surveillance video from nearby stores --- including the N-D Nail Spa down the street.

Dustin Pham, ND Nail Spa: "One of the policemen come here asking me for video."

The man faces felony armed robbery charges if, and when, he's caught. That means he could spend up to 20 years in prison.
