Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) - It was a tight competition. This year's red kettle "Fire up the Kettles Day" campaign brought in over $75,000 on Friday.
But after 10 hours in the cold, there could only be one winner.
The Fargo-Moorhead firefighters were named the biggest contributors, bringing in $34,500. Community realtors brought in a little less at $25,000. Local law enforcement raised almost $16,000.
Margie Bailly, Salvation Army: "There are no winners and losers here. The winner is the Salvation Army and everyone they serve and programs they do."
Donations made to Salvation Army kettles Friday were matched up to $5,000 by Nova Fire Protection.
