Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) - With two weeks left in the year, Fargo is close to having one of the top 10 driest years on record.

As of today, this year is ranked 10th with 14.2 - 9 inches of melted precipitation. This so far has been the driest year since 1976. Average precipitation for the year is just under 22 inches. So just how close are we to slipping to number 11?

Daryl Ritchison, Stormtracker Meteorologist: “We need about 2/10ths which is really only a couple of inches of snow, so if a disturbance or something passes on through, we may finish in 11th or 12th place, but our pattern the way it is, it wouldn't surprise me if we stay number 10.”

Right now we are just ahead of 1988 for the driest year.
