Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) -- Local law enforcement is doing what it can to brighten the holidays for some disadvantaged children.

This is the 18th annual cops and kids shopping event. It's put on by the Fraternal Order of Police, Red River Valley Lodge-1.

Officers were partnered with a child, they were given $75 bucks to shop at Walmart to shop.

Officer David Boelke with the Fargo Police Dept. says, "It gives one one one with law enforcement, the whole region of law enforcement with kids who maybe could use the boost and have a better perception of law enforcement in our community."

Officers took the children to MacDonalds after shopping.
