Minnesota (WDAY TV) -- Prescription painkiller use is on a drastic rise in Minnesota.
It's up 72 percent from 7 years ago. Oxycodone and hydrocodone are being prescribed more than ever before. That's according to an investigation from the Saint Paul Pioneer Press and Duluth News Tribune.
One of the largest increases comes from Northwest Minnesota. 24 out of every 10 thousand Minnesotans between 18 and 24 sought opiate addiction treatment last year.
That's up 179 percent from four years earlier.
