Oxbow, ND (WDAY TV) -- An Oak Grove graduate is getting international attention with her music.

Amanda Warner writes and performs music under the name "MNDR." She's set to appear on the Late Show with David Letterman Monday night.

Amanda Warner has come a long way from the farmland of North Dakota. As the artist "MNDR," her music has been played on television and movies, and she's featured in a triple-platinum international hit, "Bang Bang Bang" with Mark Ronson.

Now, she has a new song and album that she will perform on national television.

Amanda: "This album is sort of like what I would call classic pop album it has uptempo dance records, and ballads, and mid-tempos."

Back in Oxbow, her parents, Joanne and Mike say Amanda showed an early interest in music.

Joanne: "Never dreamt she'd be here!"

They lived on a farm near Hillsboro... where Mike, a musician himself, built a basement recording studio.

Mike: "I guess Amanda was doing multi-track recording probably from nine years on."

Amanda moved to New York four years ago to focus on her music. But she says the musical culture in the FM area helped launch her career.

Amanda: "I've get a ton of support, I was highly involved with the FM music scene, Fargo-Moorhead music scene, and in Grand Forks. And of course I was at Oak Grove and did classical music in the Fargo-Moorhead area as well. So I really cut my teeth.

Her parents say they're glad Amanda is doing what she loves, though it takes some getting used to.

Mike: "I'll be watching a television show, and it's so strange and all of a sudden, there's your daughters music."

Check out MNDR on Letterman Monday, December 17th. The new album is called Feed Me Diamonds.
