Newtown, CT (WDAY TV) -- Investigators are spending the day searching for clues as to why a 20 year old gunman killed 27 people, most of them children.

Authorities say they've found some "very good evidence" as they look for answers in yesterdays massacre at a Connecticut elementary school. So far though police say they have not found a note or manifesto of the sort that sometimes turns up after murderous rampages.

Police say the 20 year old committed suicide after killing his mother and 26 others.

Lt. Paul Vance with the Connecticut State Police says, "we will go backwards as far as we have to go in this investigation and hopefully we will stumble upon answers."

Meantime one resident of Newtown says people are beginning to take down Christmas decorations, feeling guilty about celebrating amid the tragedy.
