Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) -- Ten Georgia Southern team members, in town for tonight's semi-final game, would have missed their graduation. But thanks to technology, they made the ceremony.

Since they couldn't join the rest of their classmates at Georgia Southern's commencement this morning, nine athletes and one team manager had a graduation ceremony of their own, right here at the Fargo Civic Center.

The ten students were joined by University President Brooks Keel via Skype Thursday night.

They donned their caps and gowns as their ceremony broadcast live on campus back in Statesboro.

Though Georgia Southern has a student body of more than 20-thousand, they still announce each graduate's name during commencement.

Ryan Chambers/Director of Development: "It's such a big deal, that I don't think the President nor this coaching staff wanted these kids who have this opportunity to come on a national stage on ESPN to play in such an important football game, to miss out on that."

And this way, their families and supporters back home didn't have to miss out, either.

This is the third year the school has held the Skype ceremony.
