Detroit Lakes, MN (WDAY TV) -- A Detroit Lakes man has a chance to win 18-thousand dollars every night, for 10-straight nights.
He's one of 15 bull riders from around the world to qualify for the National Finals Rodeo in Las Vegas, and the first from Minnesota in 29 years.
Brett Stall did not make it to Vegas on luck, sure, there's luck of the draw on the bull he rides, but at 22, he's proving he's got the talent to be the best. And on the biggest stage of his life, Stall had a good draw and great ride leading to a Las Vegas Jackpot.
It took Brett Stall just 8 seconds and a bull named Cowboy Compactor to put Minnesota on rodeo's national map.
That ride scored 88.5 points to win the 7th round of the NFR. That's a payday of more than 18-thousand dollars.
2 nights prior, this ride got him a 3rd place finish and a nearly 11 thousand dollar prize. I joked with him earlier, most people wouldn't do what he does for any amount of money.
At the end of the year the top 15 money makers get invited here to the NFR.
It's 10 rodeos in 10 nights.
And look at the money to be made. Each night this is the payout. Stall has a first, 3rd and 6th place finish this week.
The top 8 cowboys with the best average for the week then get a bonus Saturday night. How about that payout. Stall is currently at 6th in the average.
7 straight nights of doing this takes its toll, Stall says every bull rider has multiple injuries going into round 8 tonight.
Stall rides tonight around 11:20 our time on the GAC channel. He drew a bull called "line men," and it's considered a rank bull, which means it'll buck hard.
