Moorhead, MN (WDAY TV) -- M-State in Moorhead today became only the 2nd 2-year school in Minnesota to have a workout facility.

The school held a ribbon cutting for its brand new, student-funded fitness center. In 2010, students voted to support the center with a per-student fee.

Crews have been working on the $1.45 million dollar center since May. The 44-hundred square foot facility features treadmills, elliptical machines, stationary bikes, weight machines, free weights, a group fitness area and locker rooms.

Louis Mattson, MState SGA President, says, "It's great you know. Everyone can look at it and know that they contributed to it. Everyone should feel welcome, especially with them paying for it. It's something that isn't done that much and you know students should feel at home here."

The center will officially open with the start of the spring semester on January 14th.
