Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) - Fargo and West Fargo city leaders teamed up to make their wishes for the next legislative session known.
Fargo mayor Dennis Walaker and West Fargo mayor Rich Mattern led the joint meeting. Population growth, transportation funding, property taxes, housing needs, and public health and safety issues are all priorities.
For Walaker, so is flood protection, in light of the Red River diversion hanging in the balance.
Mayor Dennis Walaker, Fargo: "We have a plan, if Congress doesn't get their head out of the sand pretty soon, that we're continuing to spend both state and local monies for the protection of our city to 42 and a half feet. We think that's extremely important."
The 63rd North Dakota Legislative session begins January 8.
