Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) - Today's date is a phenomenon we likely won't see again in our lifetimes.
12/12/12 marks the end of repetitive dates for this century. For some in our area, it proved to be a lucky day.
For this Moorhead family, it's a day to celebrate. Joe and Jaymie Emmerich welcomed baby Jack into the world at three AM - the first Fargo-Moorhead 12-12-12 baby.
Jaymie Emmerich, Gave Birth on 12/12/12: "Our due date was three days ago, so it was a surprise to have him on 12/12/12. But it's fun."
Jack seems to have the number twelve wrapped around his tiny newborn fingers.
Jaymie: "We've already decided his jersey number will be 12, for whatever that might be."
It's also Eric Palm's birthday, a sixth-grader at Discovery Middle School. He was born twelve years ago - now celebrating his Golden birthday, turning 12 on 12/12/12.
The special day is reflected in some of his gifts.
Eric Palm, Golden Birthday: "I got a coin - a silver coin that was made in 2012."
Kim Palm, Eric’s Mother: "It's pretty exciting, this doesn't happen very often in our lifetime."
Talk about a good day for this family: Eric shares a birthday with his mom, Kim.
Eric: "It makes it easier for my dad."
Some people think repetitive numbers like 12/12/12 lead to good fortune. For those people, today might be a good time to try their luck at a casino.
Tim Sipe says he's interested in numbers, and is taking advantage of the date by buying twelve pull tabs.
Tim Sipe, Trying His Luck: "Just coincidences of numbers like 7-7-7, July 7th, 2007, something lucky happened to me that day. And today is lucky for me because it's my mother's birthday."
One thing is for sure - it seems like a lucky day for birthdays.
In some places around the country it was also a popular day for weddings. But the Cass and Clay county courthouses reported business as usual today.
