JAMESTOWN, N.D. (AP) — The old Jamestown Hospital's transformation into a commercial building with apartments for seniors is nearing completion, with residential tenants likely to move in by Feb. 1.

The rechristened Legacy Center is to include 51 apartments for seniors covering about 10,000 square feet at its core. The Lutheran Social Services Housing project also will include about 40,000 square feet of commercial space.

The Jamestown Sun reports that the residential space is scheduled to be finished first. The rest of the $10 million project should be complete by June.

Lutheran Social Services Housing Director Jessica Thomasson tells the newspaper that construction will continue through the winter, and landscaping will begin in the spring.

The Jamestown Regional Medical Center and a daycare already operate out of the building.
