Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) - The city of Fargo has some pretty big future plans for the old CVS/Sunmart complex on 13th avenue south.
City commissioners approved the purchase of the building for $3 million. It was assessed at 3.8.
The building will undergo a $5 to 6 million renovation and become the home of Fargo Cass Public Health.
There will also be room for some city hall offices and a police precinct. The police department downtown is out of space.
Chief Keith Ternes, Fargo Police Dept.: "We will try and provide at least similar services from that location as you might find in our downtown location. So for example during regular business hours there will be office staff there so people who may need or want to come to the police department will have an alternative other than coming all the way downtown to access those police services."
The current public health building downtown will also be renovated and house city assessors. The total cost of the project is $10.5 million and should take up to two years to complete.
