Travel alert lifted for North Dakota motorists

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — Officials have lifted a statewide travel alert that was in place for North Dakota.

The North Dakota Department of Transportation said in a news release that conditions have improved following early blowing and drifting snow.

Officials cautioned there were still areas of scattered ice and snow on state highways.

The National Weather Service reported Bismarck had received 2 inches of snow, Jamestown had 3 inches and Glen Ullin had 3.8 inches.

South Dakota officials have closed Interstate 90 between Chamberlain and Sioux Falls and Intestate 29 from Sioux Falls from Sisseton because of blizzard conditions.
