West Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) -- Local Boy Scouts are trying to make the holidays more cheerful for the homeless.

Several troops in West Fargo and Horace are collecting items for shelters.

Churches United and the New Life Center say they're in desperate need of donations.

You can drop them off at the Christmas tree lot by Triumph church. Scouts there say they'll give you a 5 dollar discount off a tree for your donations.

Devin Stenerson, troop 246, says, "Winter gear like coats, mittens, some food items that won't spoil like nuts, soups, that way we can donate to some of the homeless shelters around the area."

Other drop off locations are the West Fargo police station and VFW.
