GRAND FORKS - Two men were killed in a head-on collision south of Grand Forks Friday afternoon, according to the North Dakota Highway Patrol.
Their names have not been released. One is an 86-year-old from Buxton, N.D., who died at the scene. The other is a 78-year-old from Northwood, N.D., who died at Altru Hospital.
The patrol said the Buxton man was northbound in a 2002 Saturn sedan on County Road 81 about 4 p.m. and the Northwood man was southbound in a Chrysler minivan. They collided while both were negotiating a curve four miles south of Grand Forks.
The Buxton man wore seatbelts while the Northwood man did not. Airbags deployed in both their vehicles. The black-top road was not slick and the weather was clear.
