Bismarck, ND (WDAY TV) -- Two North Dakota soldiers serving in Afghanistan are dead and another is injured after a road side bomb incident.
The North Dakota National Guard just wrapped up a news conference in Bismarck where we learned more about the soldiers involved. The soldiers were with the 818th, a unit of 100, based out of Williston and Hazen.
But tonight we learned one of victims who lost his life was from Devils Lake and the other from Bismarck.
The man from Devils Lake is 41-year-old Darren Linde, who leaves behind a wife and four children. The other was 20-year-old Tyler Orgaard of Bismarck. He is survived by his parents.
Their unit's mission was to keep roads safe in Afghanistan.
Both men were killed in action when an explosive device struck their vehicle on Monday. Tonight the North Dakota National Guard held a news conference to express grief for the honorable men who lost their lives serving our country.
