Moorhead, MN (WDAY TV) -- A false stabbing report in Moorhead causes a time consuming scare for the police department.
While officers spent great resources investigating the allegations, the woman behind them will most likely walk away without charges. They say she had blood on her hands and walked into a chiropractic clinic, where she told an employee she stabbed and killed the father of her child.
The employee immediately notified police During questioning, the woman denied ever making the claims to the employee. Because she was not the one who made the call, police say false report charges aren't likely.
Lt. Tory Jacobson with the Moorhead Police says, "it's quite common actually or I should say not unusual for us to get different parts of the story from different people. In this case, it certainly wasn't just an immediate clear response this is false, this is something you shouldn't be putting your time into."
Police say alcohol was a factor, but public intoxication is not a chargeable crime.
