Mandan, ND (WDAY TV) -- An update on a story we've been following. We first brought you the story of the miniature horse in need of a leg.

Rafiki is a rescue horse from Minnesota who suffered a major injury. Triple H Miniature Horse Rescue took the horse in. After 10 weeks at a vet in Wyoming, that little pony has a new prosthetic leg to stand on.

The rescue's founder says this 4 year old has plenty of years of life to live and those should be well spent.

Allison Smith with the rescue program says, "his one did tug at my heart strings becasue he was getting no care and he was hopping on 3 legs and we had never spent that kind of money on a rescue horse."

The process cost the rescue about 15-thousand dollars.
