WASHBURN, N.D. (AP) — Construction is under way to nearly double the size of the Lewis and Clark Interpretive Center in Washburn.
The Minot Daily News reports that the expansion will add 9,000 square feet to the existing 11,000-square-foot facility.
A new events center is planned, as well as more space for displays and archives.
Spokeswoman Wendy Spencer says the cost of the project is pegged at more than $5 million. She says the state has contributed about $1.5 million, and the balance is being raised through donations.
Spencer says the work could be done sometime next year.
