A nationally renowned nutritionist stops in Fargo and gives holiday snacking tips

Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) -- A nationally renowned nutrition expert has a few tips to make you feel a little better about those Christmas snacks.

Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) -- A nationally renowned nutrition expert has a few tips to make you feel a little better about those Christmas snacks.

Mark Macdonald, creator of the Venice Nutrition Program stopped in Fargo today. He says before stuffing your face with holiday sweets, take in a serving of protein.

Also, indulging for a couple of days is fine. As long as you don't let that sweet tooth carry into the days following Christmas.

Macdonald says, "I mean that's like Thanksgiving, everyone is like what are we going to do for Thanksgiving? It's just one day! It's what you're doing before Thanksgiving it's what you're doing leading up to that Thanksgiving meal and after Thanksgiving you just have to get back on plan and plan is just eating in 3s -- you got to eat every 3 hours and divide your plate in 3 - a third protein a third fat a third carbohydrate."
