Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) -- If this cold weather has you longing for the warm, sandy beaches of your favorite vacation destination but you don't want to break the bank. First, you're not alone. And 2nd, there's an app for that.

This time of year, a scene like this looks pretty inviting. But if your wallet looks like this it could be hard to pull off.

That's where sky scanner comes in. The app can help you find cheap flights, fast. It lets you search and compare more than 1000 airlines and travel agents to find the best deals on more than a million flights anywhere in the world.

Here's how it works, if I want to find the best deal on a getaway to Hawaii

I type in Honolulu, search for flights, then compare my options..

It shows the lowest fare. You can then scan and choose your departure and return flight. It links you directly to the airline or travel agent offering that fare. And after you book, you can share your flight details with friends, family or colleagues via email, Facebook or Twitter - in one tap

Some added features, if you're flexible on when you fly, you can find the cheapest "dates" to travel If you're flexible on where you fly? You can find the cheapest flights from your local airport You can even filter your searches by take off/landing time, airline or price.

And once you get your flight, Skyscanner can also compare and find the cheapest hotels and car rental for that next big trip. The app is free and available on both the i-phone and google play market.
