Moorhead, MN (WDAY TV) -- Many people are settling down with family to a Thanksgiving dinner tonight.

But others don't have family around to celebrate with, or just don't want to cook. St. Joe's Catholic and Trinity Lutheran churches in Moorhead served their annual free community Thanksgiving dinner today.

The meal gives people without family a little company this holiday, especially those who are homeless and hungry...

Or just want to spend time with community.

Phillip Hamre of Moorhead, says, "We have kids here and they all have their own thing to do with their in-laws. So, us grandpa and grandma are left alone."

The dinner took 800 pounds of turkey and 400 pounds of mashed potatoes to feed everyone.
