Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) -- A teenage boy is now safe after being stranded on a boulder in the Red River.
It happened at the 12th Avenue dam in North Fargo around five-thirty last night. The boy tried to cross the river on foot, using the rocks for footing.
He couldn't reach the other side on his own, and started calling for help. A neighbor heard him, and firefighters came to the rescue.
Captain Tim Binfet with the Fargo Fire Department says, "I guess he was pretty cold and not very talkative. So, I don't know if he was pre-hypothermic or not. But I guess he was pretty cold and it was dark out, so he was probably pretty scared sitting in the river."
The boy was taken to the hospital for treatment.
