Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) - The Bison won the Missouri Valley conference for the second straight year over the weekend and today took home some more hardware from the conference with two individual awards.
Marcus Williams was selected as the Conference Defensive Player of the Year. Williams racked up four more interceptions so far this season to bring his career total to 15, one shy of the NDSU record, he actually had three less picks than he did last season.
Marcus Williams, 2012 MVFC Defensive Player of the Year: “It's an honor to get this award. I give it all to my coaches and teammates they put me in positions to make plays and do the things to make me look good but really those guys who do it for me, more prepared this year, studied the game more this year learned a lot more, and it proven.”
Craig Bohl, NDSU Head Coach: “I think a lot of the coaches around the league recognized the ability he has, changed the dynamics of the football game and certainly appreciate his efforts, very skilled and talented player.”
Williams wasn't the only award winner from NDSU, Craig Bohl was selected as the Coach of the year for the second straight season. NDSU just wrapped up its second straight 10-1 campaign, that's the fourth time the Bison have had that record since Bohl has taken over, but he says this isn't an individual honor.
Bohl: “Coach of the year, reflection of entire program, had a good year up to this point and on behalf of NDSU football it's honoring. Lot of people involved in this any head coach recognizes that and I do also.”
Couple other NDSU notes, the Bison will wear their gold jerseys for their playoff opener next Saturday also that game has been picked up on ESPN Gameplan, which is available on cable and satellite.
