Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) - Dr. Jon Norberg walked out of the Cass County Courthouse a free man today, innocent on all charges.

Norberg was accused of drugging his wife Dr. Alonna Norberg with propofol, then sexually assaulting her.

It took the jury only four hours to decide the fate of Dr. Jon Norberg. He's not guilty on charges of gross sexual imposition and reckless endangerment.

The courtroom today was packed with his friends and family, many very emotional when the decision was read shortly after 1 this afternoon.

Dr. Jon Norberg, Acquitted on All Char, Acquitted on All Charges: “This has been surreal, the whole time."

After only four hours of waiting for a verdict, Dr. Jon Norberg sat anxiously awaiting his fate.

A big sigh of relief and a courtroom full of emotion after the jury of five men and seven women, acquitted Norberg on all charges.

Norberg: "They finally understood that it's not about what she said."

Norberg was accused of injecting his wife, Dr. Alonna Norberg, with propofol about 30 times over 18 months, then raping her, an act that could have put him behind bars for life.

Robert Hoy, Defense Attorney: “We're very pleased with the verdict."

Gary Euren, Cass County Asst. States Atty.: “Difficult case, he said she said.”

Difficult because the defense argued there was no sound physical evidence the assault took place and complicated by the couple's ongoing divorce and custody battle.

Euren: “Really believe the facts were all there.”

Hoy: “Confident Norberg was innocent.”

Norberg is now hoping to get back his medical license, as the state's medical board said it would hold off any action until after the trail and spend time with the kids he was afraid he'd lose.

Hoy: “Good Thanksgiving for Jon and family.”

Norberg: “Want to spend time with my kids, will make sure Alonna gets time too.”

Dr. Alonna Norberg and most of her family did not come back to court to hear the verdict.

Calls to her were not returned.
