Holiday travel making trips longer than usual

Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) - More than 43 million Americans are on the move and most Turkey Day travelers, 39 million of them, are hitting the road by car.

Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) - More than 43 million Americans are on the move and most Turkey Day travelers, 39 million of them, are hitting the road by car.

The top five cities bracing for the worst traffic today: New York, Washington, DC, Chicago San Francisco and Los Angeles.

AAA says holiday road trips will take 33% longer than usual.

The weather is expected to be kind for those on highways around most of the country.

Heather Hunter, Spokesperson AAA: "With today expected to be the busiest day, and many people also working, we're expecting this evening there will be a lot of congestion."

If you are flying, some tips to ease air travel pains: get to the airport early, limit your carry-ons, and don't pack the cranberry sauce. It's a liquid. The TSA won't allow it.
