Fundraiser rakes in over $1 million for Roger Maris Cancer Center

FARGO – A black-tie event held here last week with the aim of raising half a million dollars to benefit cancer patients and research in the area garnered more than double its projected goal.

The “Waves of Wonder” event at the Fargodome raked in $1.1 million last Saturday night to support the Roger Maris Cancer Center here, the Sanford Health foundation said. Prior to the event, officials had said they wanted to raise $500,000.

The inaugural Roger Maris Gala Black Tie Event for Cancer charged $100 per ticket, featured catered food and live music and had many sponsors, including The Forum, along with community members and Roger Maris Cancer Center staff.
