Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) -- The mood couldn't have changed any faster for Bison fans yesterday watching the Selection Show, from the excitement of landing the number 1 seed to the concern of seeing who a possible 2nd round opponent may be.

NDSU was placed in the same bracket as rival South Dakota State, who has to play Eastern Illinois this Saturday.

The Bison just beat the Jacks two weeks ago, but the issue for NDSU is that SDSU's body of work and overall national ranking appeared to be much higher than the 20th overall seed.

Gene Taylor, NDSU Athletic Director, says, "I think that surprised me as much as anything was that SDSU was last team in, to me sends a message that they didn't respect Missouri Valley as a league or didn't respect

SDSU how good they are.

Patty Viverito says, "This is not unprecedented, not as dramatic fashion, number 1 seed in number 1 league possibly play each other that early and being the first game for the number 1 seeed makes it uniquely bad

I understand that."

The final FCS coaches poll of the regular season is out today, NDSU remains

the top team with 24 first place votes, Montana State at 2, SDSU comes

in at 21, while Eastern Illinois is not ranked.
