Minot airport officials vexed by de-icing snafu

MINOT, N.D. (AP) — The chairman of Minot's airport committee wants answers about why de-icing equipment wasn't available at the airport last weekend when a major winter storm hit.

MINOT, N.D. (AP) — The chairman of Minot's airport committee wants answers about why de-icing equipment wasn't available at the airport last weekend when a major winter storm hit.

A spokesman for a service company says both of its de-icing trucks broke down. Several weekend flights were canceled and dozens of passengers were stranded.

Delta Air Lines spokesman Russell Cason tells The Minot Daily News (http://bit.ly/RJBIWF ) says the company is putting a third de-icing truck at Minot. Cason says the truck can be moved elsewhere in North Dakota as needed.

The chairman of the Minot City Council's airport committee says he'll be asking the service company to speak to the committee Nov. 26 about making sure the problem doesn't happen again.

Jim Hatlelid (HAT'-uh-lid) says the incident gives the Minot airport a bad name.
