Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) -- The prosecution in the trial of Dr. Jon Norberg has rested its case. Today, the defense called witnesses to attack Dr. Alonna Norberg's credibility.
Jon Norberg is accused of drugging his wife with the powerful sedative propofol, then raping her.
The defense called its first witness today, a retired police lieutenant from Denver who has extensive experience with high profile, sexual assault cases.
Lt. Byron Haze says he believes Alonna Norberg embellished her sexual assault story. Dr. Jon Norberg is accused of injecting her with propofol 30 times over 18 months, then raping her.
Haze testified that the mechanics of Alonna's claims aren't physically possible, even demonstrating them for the jury. He also walked jurors through reasons why an alleged victim might make false reports of a sexual assault, saying Alonna fit 5 of the 6 motives.
Co-workers of Dr. Jon Norberg also took the stand, saying he was extremely professional and never spoke poorly or aggressively to or about his wife.
